WHY: We lift our hands!

"Thus will I bless thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in thy name." Psalm 63:4

"Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord." Psalm 134:2

"I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing." 1 Tim 2:8

Why do we give audible praise unto God? "Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me bless His holy name." Psalm 103:1

"I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth." Psalm 34:1

"And when they heard this, they lifted their voices to God . . ." Acts 2:24

WHY: We say "amen"!

"And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground." Nehemiah 8:6

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." Colossians 3:16

WHY: We pray together for specific needs!

"And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven and earth and the sea and all that in them is." Acts 4:24

WHY: We anoint with oil and pray for the sick!

"Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick and the Lord shall raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him." James 5:14-15

WHY: We gather together for church services!

"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:25
